Former NFL wide receiver Kenny Britt was busted for marijuana possession on Saturday in Bayonne, NJ, according to NJ.com.
Britt, 31, was arrested after cops pulled him over at 33rd street and Kennedy Boulevard and smelled marijuana, prompting a search of the former Rutgers star’s truck. Police found less than 50 grams of marijuana, per the report.
The former Bayonne High School standout was charged with marijuana possession and issued two summonses — one for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and another for obstructing passage of other motor vehicles, Bayonne police captain Eric Amato told the website.
Britt has had previous run-ins with police. In April 2011, he was arrested after attempting to elude police and lying to a police officer in Bayonne. The felony charge of eluding an officer was reduced to a misdemeanor.
On June 7 of that year, Britt pleaded guilty to careless driving charges and was fined $478. The next day, Britt was arrested in Hoboken and charged with resisting arrest after detectives suspected he was carrying a blunt.
Britt became Rutgers’ first-ever first-round pick when the Titans selected him at No. 30 in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played with Tennessee for five seasons before spending the next three years with the Rams. He last appeared in the NFL in 2017 with the Browns and Patriots.
