With baseball season less than three weeks away and the sun shining in New York, there isn’t a better time to debut our New York Post Yankees podcast. Here’s the first episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with former Yankees pitcher Jeff Nelson and YES Network’s Chris Shearn.
Shearnie and Nellie open the show talking Aaron Judge and his rib injury. What exactly happened to Judge, from his injury from September to now missing time and maybe getting surgery? How is the outfield going to look now with injuries to Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Hicks?
NY Post baseball columnist Joel Sherman then drops by the show. Sherman talks about the concerning amount of injuries for the Yankees and how this has all transpired. How will the rotation stack up with Luis Severino, James Paxton and Domingo German out at the start of the year? Sherman talks about how the team will look early in the season and exactly how the lineup and pitching staff might shake out.
Yankees legend and YES Network color commentator Paul O’Neill then joins Shearnie and Nellie. O’Neill breaks down the outfield situation with all the injuries and how the team will get through it. He talks with Nellie about injuries when they played versus the concerning amount that happen now. They also talk about Clint Frazier and his role with this team. O’Neill looks back at facing Nellie in 1995 — when the reliever was still with the Mariners — and having trouble with his slider. He looks back at his favorite memories from those championship teams in the Bronx.
