Though Michigan State may not be the top-ranked team in the country as it was at the beginning of the season, four straight wins — with the Spartans scoring at least 78 points in all of them — has this team looking like a title contender.
The current Michigan State team fits the mold of the teams coach Tom Izzo has had his most success with. He has led the program to the Final Four three times as a five seed or worse and got there as a No. 2 seed last season.
The main cog of last year’s Final Four team is firing on all cylinders with Cassius Winston registering 18.3 points per game and making 42.6 percent of his 3s. He also gives out 5.9 assists per game on an offense that leads the country in assists per made field goal.
Ohio State has to try to slow the Spartans down on Sunday without sixth man DJ Carton, who is shooting 40 percent from 3-point range to go with 10.4 points per game.
With Ohio State banged up and Michigan State finding its March form, the Spartans should end the Big Ten regular season and get its fourth cover in five games.
The play: Michigan State, -6¹/₂.
