Tom Brady’s impending free agency has allowed some NFL players to dream of what it would be like to play with the four-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback.
One of those players being Titans receiver A.J. Brown, who expressed his admiration for Brady while appearing Monday on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Brown said having an opportunity to play alongside Brady would be “insane.”
“Of course, we would want Ryan [Tannehill] back,” Brown said of the first-year Titans QB. “Of course. I’ve got chemistry with him already, so going into Year 2, I feel like it would just grow more. But unfortunately, if things don’t go as planned and we get Tom Brady or whatever — like, who wouldn’t want to play with Tom Brady? I’m just going to be honest. He knows how to do it. He’s won Super Bowls, and I really want to be around him. Even if I don’t play with him, I just want to have a conversation with him — just try to pick his brain and see how he does things.
“But if we’re fortunate enough to get Tom Brady this year, that would be insane. But regardless of whoever we get, I just want them just to hurry up so I can know who my quarterback will be this upcoming year.”
Brown, whom the Patriots had shown interest in before he was drafted by Tennessee in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, was one of the top rookie wideouts in the league this season. The 22-year-old out of Ole Miss caught 52 passes for 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns. Brown registered six of those scores after Tannehill replaced by Marcus Mariota as the Titans’ starting quarterback in Week 7.
Tennessee has been rumored as a potential landing spot for Brady should the Patriots fail to lock him down for a 21st season in New England. The Titans are primed to be Super Bowl contenders next season, and Brady is known to have a tremendous relationship with Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel, who played with him in New England.
The Titans have until 4 p.m. Thursday to decide whether or not to use the franchise tag on Tannehill.
