The Undertaker’s journey to WrestleMania has begun.

He had reportedly asked to work with AJ Styles on April 5 at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, and that appears to be exactly what we are getting. Undertaker replaced a decimated Rey Mysterio to beat Styles in the Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet match at WWE Super ShowDown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

The Undertaker arrived after taking care of Styles’ fellow Original Club members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson backstage, following them taking out Mysterio – the last announced competitor in the match. Undertaker didn’t even remove his hat and coat before chokeslamming Styles for the pin, the win and a huge yellow trophy sculpted in the image of Tuwaiq Mountain in Saudi Arabia.

Undertaker, who did not appear at WrestleMania 35 last year at MetLife Stadium, reportedly sees a modern day Shawn Michaels in Styles, 42.

The 54-year-old Dead Man has had more success wrestling current WWE stars than other legends have. He has two of the best matches in WrestleMania history with Michaels. He likely hopes to recreate some of that magic with Styles, who will now have a chip on his shoulder after Super ShowDown.

Undertaker’s last match at WrestleMania was a squash against John Cena in 2018.
